Anjuna Beach, Goa, India
Famous for the Anjuna beat and Anjuna market - Not to mention the Full Moon parties.
Re-discovered by the 'hippy' flower children in the late 1960's after the Portuguese left Anjuna in Goa, This fairly picturesque small costal community with a colourful past meanders on. After nearly half a century later Anjuna continues to attract lots of free spirited people from all parts of the world and all walks of life.

The hippy beat still hangs in the air here from the 1980's when the hippy-era in Goa was at its height. Anjuna's Wednesday flea-market still has a hippy feel to it - bangles, beads, sandals and more!
The Anjuna beat is not dead, (or as dead as may be believed and not to be confused with the record label Anjuna Beats) psytrance music was probably invented in Goa!

Further back in time Anjuna was an Arab trading post through the 10th and 12th centuries being on the Arabian Sea coast.
Laguna Anjuna is a resort where all of the mini-villas are of different shapes and sizes, each with its own unique look and feel. Visually the resort is appealing, with thick local laterite stonework with pillars and vaulted domes. The walkway roof is a fully continuous one of wooden rafters and terracotta tiles, curving and winding to interconnect the various 'cottages'.
