Inside Goa:

"Discover Goa" (full day excursion) Take a tour along a coastal route, passing churches, temples, Portuguese style houses and thatched huts. Visit a rubber plantation and Laterite quarry.

"Old Goa - Rome of the east" (full day excursion) Visit temples and churches from the 16th C and earlier. See other sites of national interest in the area and the capital Panaji. End the day with a sunset river cruise.

"Overnight Houseboat Experience" This is Goa's version of the famous "Rice Boats of Kerala". Stay on a traditional style rice boat with two bedrooms sailing on the Siolim River - a true insight into the rural life of Goa from the backwaters. Great for bird watching too!

"Castaway Island" (full day excursion) Spend the day out on the Arabian Sea in traditional looking canoes. Spot dolphins on the way out to the islands west of Vasco-da-Gama. "Hampi" (usually a 2 nt - 3 day excursion) With accompanied rail travel both ways and including a full day guided tour of the famous World Heritage Site that are considered the most beautiful ruins in Goa's neighbouring state of Karnataka. 2 nights accommodation in a basic standard hotel in Hospet.

Walk through Hospet and see the real India! Bullock carts, wild pigs and all!

"Kerala Backwaters" (usually a 3 nt - 4 day excursion) Kerala's backwaters are made up of a combination of estuaries, canals, lagoons, lakes and rivers. The backwaters form an eco-rich area of unspoiled areas for fauna, flora and migratory birds. The tour takes in Cochin (now known as Kochi).

"Tiger & Tusker Trail" (usually a 2 nt - 2½ day excursion) Day 1 an interesting 4-5 hour train journey on the Konkan Railway passing close to the southern coast of Goa arriving at Udupi (pronounced Uh-Do-Pee) in Karnataka. Day 2 visit an elephant training and rehabilitation camp and later the Tyavarekoppa Tiger (and Lion) protected area. Day 3 return to Goa.

If you can make the time on the evening of day 2 we recommend you visit the Krishna Temple in Udupi - One of Andrew Cruickshank's "80 Wonders of the World" One of the few active temples that permit outsiders in to see the worship and rituals surrounding their deity. The noises, sights, smells and sounds inside the temple and outside will entrance you!
