Goan Heritage Hotel, Calangute, Bardez, Goa, India

We stayed at the Hotel Goan Heritage, Calangute for two weeks in November 2006 on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel boasts that it is the only beach hugging resort in Goa. The fact is the beach does come up to the hotel grounds as far as the security fence and guarded gate.

Their full page ad in "See Goa" says "Just alongside the famous Calangute beach, offers the best in Goan Hospitality. Spacious rooms, inviting pool, exotic multi-cuisine restaurant, evening entertainment, prompt service and lots more. Come, allow us to pamper you!"

Well for the first time in a long time we have to agree with an advert's text!

You can't get much closer to a beach than this. Just the other side of the palm trees by the pool.

The hospitality was warm and genuine.

The rooms are certainly spacious and the pool was really inviting. Not heated but comfortably warmed by the Goan sun. A great place to cool off!

The food was good, and the a-la-carte menu prices and portions were comparable with other eateries in the area, including the beach shacks. Buffets were interesting and varied. Don't be afraid to ask how much the lobsters are - they are not dear at all!

The prices for alcoholic drinks were quite reasonable (even from the room mini-bar!) and service at all points was prompt and polite.
